Just read nice finishing off in Cricinfo after the game of SL vs SA. It was a great game where we won our first test match in SA soil,

It is dark and gloomy in Durban, but as they say, it is always the darkest just before the dawn. What an arena to win your first Test of the post-Murali era! What a heart-warming turnaround this, and what a way to round off one of the greatest years of Test cricket in recent times! Sri Lanka have hurtled from one low to another after a sizzling run to the World Cup final. Their board ran into losses, their Twenty20 league was forced to be scrapped. The cash-strapped board couldn't pay the players, and one defeat followed another. They hurtled to an embarrassing loss in Cardiff, in a Test where it rained for more time than there was play, and proceeded to lose every single Test and ODI series they played in the year. They took a hammering of epic proportions in the first Test here. Who'd have thought they could make this turnaround happen? Take a bow, Sri Lanka! Cricket is richer for having you guys in the fold.

Dogs and Cats

It's Saturday evening, I'm stuck with a fever which has forced me in staying inside. I just went through my movie collection to see something soft, which I don't have to use my brain much, which is tender but then again which can take me through entire just over one hour.

Marley & Me, I have seen this few times now and every time I watched, it touches me again and again. It's about a family who start their life with a dog called Marley. I'm not a dog person because I never had a dog. It's in my wish list to have a dog, surprised my self. I was more of a cat person, coz i had several cats when I was younger. I had those days where I was looking after cats, going after them, taking care of them and then sad days when they are gone. It's strange why people like pets, I just thought they do, but just after watching this movie, I feel like its because every person like to give his or heart to some one, some one who doesn't care about we are tall or short, or smart or not, rich or poor, some one who doesn't care whether we are in the category of haves or have nots. Dogs or cats, they don't care who we are, as long as we give them after hearts, they give theirs to us. They just want us to be part of their life. It's interesting isnt it? Have you ever thought? Also it's interesting, they never ask any fancy foods, fancy things. Just few things, just share love with them. Just be there for those few mins to play with them, that's all.

Again, back to the movie, Marly happens to be the worst dog around the corner but quickly became part John and Jenny. Owen Wilson and Jennifer Aniston I think did a great job in the movie. I think we have to give them big hand for just taking part of not so commercially interesting movie but very good family movie.

Movie walk us through the time line, it reminds you that people get old, then still they like to surprise themself.

SO, if any one of you stuck what to do, check for this movie. It's great. I'm sure you will have a good time.

I'm always a big fan of India. It's a nice country with lot of nice things to cheer about about. When watching IPL, they release newest of their cricket grounds.

Finally i start to create my bucket list. I'm sure I'll have to revisit this page and change few of them. Any way this is not a complete list, just few of the things I have in mind now. Hopefully this will grow in to a full list and I'll have good time ticking them off.

Things I want to do,

Ride a rollercoaster - This was one of my long term goals. They say life is a rollercoaster, why not ride it and feel it.
Have dog - Cool thing to do. Still I think I'm a cat person.. but luv dogs too!!!

I have been reading through Sam’s blog and hit by his “My Bucket List”. Seems it’s a nice concept where people create some sort of their wish list. Things they want to do before they die. Well it seems nice concept you know, you don’t want to miss anything before the judgment day. In addition, I think it motivates us to do few things which in otherwise we’ll wait till it happens. I have to agree that creating the list is not easy at all. I just start going through some of the other wish list online and found nice one from unknown girl

Things are still in progress, I’ll keep my list as soon as possible. I’m going to include something new in this too, I’ll include proof for every completion as well. Well you don’t have to prove to anyone, but then again I don’t want to forget them down the line. By the way I don't want to create a check list where we like a robots and follow it. This should be interesting and worth every second achieving.

It's not fugly at all!!!!!! After long time i sat to watch a Hindi movie. I was to tired of sitting at the same place for too long. There was not many hindi movie which impressed me. I watched Coffee with Karan, Imran Khan and Kapoor, thought i should give a try on Imran's new movie, "I hate luv stories"

It was a cracker, i became big fan of Imran as well as Sonam Kapoor. I sow her first movie, Sawarya but it was not cracking. This one, is really out of blue. Great movie, nice story, attractive people. I really had a great time.

Conquer the Down Under

I had the rare opportunity of staying at home and having glims of Sri Lanka’s tour to Ausy (since I was suffering from high fever). It was great two games, good preparation, hard work, good balance of team, blender of experience and putting the things in to perspective when it matters. Finally, we won a series in Ausy after playing cricket for over thirty years. I know it’s a just two games, but it’s a good feeling to win a series. It would have been great if we had the opportunity of playing few test matches too.

First game, it was unfortunate for Australia to lose but as one commenter said, there were times Australia use to win matches from those positions just as SL did that day. It seems Ausy team has went a full cycle and back to earth again. They are not unbeatable any more but by any means of bad team. They are a wonderful team with great talent and experience. I would still bet Ausy to win the ashes this summer. Hell ya, they have a better batters when compare to England. It might all come down to how ballers will go on with their job.

Back to SL cricket, it’s wonderful feeling to see success in down under. After long time, we have fire power. We are not a team who will go with three main spinners and bunch of part timers in a seeming track. Those days are gone. We now have that fire power we always loved have. We are in right direction for the world cup. Going to world cup it will not just eleven players but it will be group of players that will make the difference.

Just a quick look of guys we have for world cup,

Openers, defiantly Dilshan and Tharanga. One down, Sanga followed by Mahela. I’m sure next place will be a fight between Chandimal, Chamara and Kapugedera.

Then we have the magic of all-rounders, Angelo, Perera and Jevan Mendis

Spinners, Murali, Mendis and Randiv

Fast ballers, Malinga, Kulasekara, Dilhara

I would love to see few players to emerge and challenge that top order, few more fast ballers who can really bend their back and hit the deck hard too. If that happens, SL will be unstoppable.

For the moment, let’s enjoy the moment. Great work guys. You have indeed made the SL proud.

A new branch of science dealing with phenomenon normally associated with science fictions. It’s a interesting drama. Which I managed to finished the entire season one last weekend.

Mind reading, invisibility, parrlel words and reanimation of dead is part of the story which unfolds. It goes as to say, word is a one big laboratory and experiments are happing “pattern” which push us to the limit of moral high values, science and god.

So what world think about Fring science, its quite interesting actually. You might never know,

There is quite a lot of things happening, there is CT finals going on now, India is struggling with Commonwealth games, all this buzz about spot fixing, turmoil in Pakistan cricket and West Wing – only drama I’m watching these days. Actions that echo!!!

I first watched Troy (Film) few years ago. Tonight I sow it again in TV. Well it was a nice film about brave men like Hector and Achilles. Entire community has to suffer the consequences of the actions by Paris,Hector’s brother, but I think entire film surrounds the braveness of the Hector.
There is this saying in, when the times comes it is all about “Fighting and wining or go down with a fight”. Ancient time, people thought they should fight, even when things are blink, even it is a loosing battle. They thought braveness is that. It is like honor. If you run away from a battle like a coward then it is same as dead, just like walking dead body.
I don’t know, what is meaning by braveness , but I do know that, Hector could have avoid the fight, even kill the Achilles by using his forces without going for the face to face fight. I know it is not the best of actions, dirtiest of tricks. People will remember Hector for the shame full act, for his dirty trick. But, But if that happen, Troy will never fallen. Some times running from the battle is the best option of wining it back, is it?
But deep down inside, I feel like what Hector done was the correct thing. He faced the battle like true warrior.

Roswell High TV series..

Last few weeks I’m in to reading few books. Actually reading 2 of the most interesting stories I have ever read.

Davinci Code and Angels and Demons written by Dan Brown.

Well those two are great classic. Wonderful to read.

Angles and Demons is the best book I have read in my life. Today I bought the Digital Fortress by Mr Brown. Think this is going to be a interesting one too.

Tom Moody, Sri Lanka's coach: Did anyone hear anything from him, including wanting to coach India, during the last two months. Perfectly cast, always in the background, yet with an important role to play.

Andrew Flintoff of England for his outstanding performance of getting drunk, falling into the sea and then having to be rescued. He was suitably rewarded as England stripped him off as vice-captain.

Greg Chappell. For taking a team of talented players and winning only one match, against lowly Bermuda.

WI 2007 – cricket world cup is going on these days and it is been a one hell of days for the cricket loving ppl in SL. Going to sleep around so early morning.
SL team has so for not disappointed us like our Indian and Park neighbors. They had a very good run so far. One off game against South Africa, but still Malinga makes that a sensational one. Four in a raw and whole islanders went mad, it was a sensational balling effect and after long time we have fire power.
Well this going to be a fantatic world cup Aus still have their nose infront but Kewis , SL and SF not far behind.
My guess is we going to go on and win the magic this time too..

It is nice to see your remember all most all the fun stuff and it was really nice reading ur post, for few min i went to those good old days of our life. Can you remember the call we made to Dr B and what has happened :). Scary times dudes.

Finally I will never forgets the days we had in Jayathilake(with sam and digs). Hay we watched film after film (Film festivals..) . Life was really fun, films, chatting, stories and many more.

It was a great time in our life. Simply we did every thing, games, internet, IT center, part time jobs, films, chatting, playing- me going to the grounds :D, chasing girls..:) , we did everything except studying. We did everything till 2 weeks before exams. Just before exams we manage to cramp and get it over. Thanks sam for all our helps and ur wonderful ability of guessing exam questions.
Most important thing is we had the most wonderful uni life and still mange to do well with our life.

Great to meet and spend time with all of the guys in our 01-batch.

Hay sam u know some thing, during the convocation it is only science our 01- batch mates claps continuously for the whole badge mates. Not even our juniors or e-faculty guys. Non one claps for others. It shows still as a batch we are the best even though we had lot of differences.

So it was great times in our life and I was lucky to meet such nice and good ppl in my life.

Nothing will be forgotten, nothing will be forgotten for ever.

With one year left for the United Nations to choose a successor to Secretary General Kofi Annan, one of the two declared candidates stressed Tuesday his experience at the world body as giving him an edge over potential rivals, making him a credible reformer.

"I believe I have a better chance of succeeding than if somebody unfamiliar with the internal workings of the U.N. system tries to approach the task. I don't think this task can be undertaken by somebody with experience of national government only. This organization [the United Nations] is unique," Jayantha Dhanapala told The Daily Yomiuri when asked about his qualifications to tackle the daunting task of U.N. reform.

The 66-year-old diplomat, currently senior adviser to newly elected Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapakse, served as U.N. undersecretary general for disarmament from 1998 to 2003 under Annan.

"Reform of the United Nations will be necessary. I'll therefore pledge [if elected secretary general] to implement reforms agreed upon by member states," Dhanapala said.

He pointed out that "half the battle" for the United Nations is reaching agreement on reform. The rest of the battle is implementing the plan--something that will be largely up to the next secretary general--and this is where his experience will count, he said.

So far, the only other declared candidate is Thai Deputy Prime Minister Surakiart Sathirathai, but South Korean Foreign Affairs and Trade Minister Ban Ki Moon and outgoing Polish President Aleksander Kwasniewski also have been raised as possible contenders.

Dhanapala stressed that the person who succeeds Annan on Jan. 1, 2007, should be from Asia, which has not had one of its own at the top U.N. post since Burma's U Thant stepped down in 1971. "I welcome more [Asian] candidates because Asia is a continent of rich human resources...It's our [Asia's] obligation to give the international community as wide a range of choices as possible," he said.

Dhanapala was in Tokyo to present himself as a candidate, holding a series of meetings with senior Japanese officials, including Foreign Minister Taro Aso and Chief Cabinet Secretary Shinzo Abe.

Japan is serving as one of 10 nonpermanent members on the U.N. Security Council through the end of 2006, when the board will elect the next secretary general. A candidate must obtain votes from at least nine countries, including all five permanent members, to be elected by the council.

Dhanapala said he and the Sri Lankan government still supported the formula of expanding the council's permanent membership by adding the so-called Group of Four--Japan, Brazil, Germany and India--plus "an African country."

He said Japan was qualified to be on the council permanently, being a major economic power and contributor to the U.N. budget, while also having increased its political role. He especially praised Japan for playing a "constructive role" in mediating conflict between his government and the separatist Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam, hosting a series of key talks throughout the peace process.

Suggesting the past few years have been a difficult period in the U.N.-U.S. relationship, especially over the Iraq war, Dhanapala said he was determined to restore the world body's smooth ties with the superpower if elected secretary general.

"I will expend all efforts to ensure the [U.N.-U.S.] relationship is a harmonious one," he said, adding that the United Nations, with its "unquestioned legitimacy and universality," should be indispensable to U.S. interests.

Well it would be not untrue if i say that im madly facinated with the Apache Organization. The open source big guy.
Coz of that i selected my final year ceminor based on MVC- Model View Control and i will talk about Jakarta MVC implemetiontaion Structs. Well I havnt used structs previously but I now it will be a fun ride. So Jakarta Im closing my gap.
My dreams are changing very fast.But now a days one of my big dreams is to Lead one of those Apache open source project one day.

XML to XHTML with XSL

Desing Patterns : Factory Method

Well idea behind the factory method is preaty straight forward. It is some thing like based on a selective structure, we generate objects on a class hiarachy.
Factory Method is a creational pattern. This pattern helps to model an interface for creating an object which at creation time can let its subclasses decide which class to instantiate. We call this a Factory Pattern since it is responsible for "Manufacturing" an Object. It helps instantiate the appropriate Subclass by creating the right Object from a group of related classes. Install Axis in Apache Tom Cat.

Just had my first real time experence with Axis. Just have to put the Axis folder inside tom catswebapps folder and put the relavent jar files like saaj.jar jax-rpc.jar ... files in the right place.Axis come up with a relatively good documentaion so life would not be a difficult thing.Put the jave web services source file (.jws) file inside the axis.YOu can do wonders with this Axis.

Well lot of people think in future web browser will hold a great edge over the traditinal GUI based applications. if you go through things like google maps http://www.google.com/maps
you would fine in future DHTML browser will hold a key. Ajax- Asynchronus Javascript and XML is not a single technology but symolize a bunch of technologies . It is a bit of a old technology. Big fishs like google are realy working hard in browser while Microsoft is trying to make the windows application embed to the web.
We will just wait and see what will happen in future.

Well my first granny was my mom's mom. She was a nice lady, who really loved me lot. I have lot of nice memories with her. The nicest one is I have removed 2 of her tooth, when I was 3. Well she passed away when I was very young. I mis you lot ....
Abt my father's mom, even my father cant remember her correctly.Coz she has passed away when my father was 7. Even though I have never seen you, I love you too.

User interface synthesis for web services

Idea is to develop encoding mechanism in Web Services Description Language (WSDL) to allow UI information needed to interact with remote web service to be encoded and used dynamically at run time to build necessary UIs on client side.

The original research idea is from Prof. John Grundy in University of Auckland, New Zeland.
I send him a mail and I was so so surprised, he sent me a mail.
Now I have a topic, but I know next to nothing about it. Still I hope this sounds will turn out to be a good one for me.
